One of the goals for The Word with Barrett Holmes Pitner is to expand the voices on the newsletter and create new types of content.
I believe that getting new perspectives about SCL’s language and philosophy can help us better understand the world around us and improve our lives.
One of the new types of content that we are producing is a podcast with myself and SCL volunteer Luna Ly that will come out every two weeks.
In the first episode of Unpacking The Word, we discuss how ethnocide, or the destruction of culture while keeping the people, can be used as a framework for examining the recent gun violence against the Asian American community. They discuss the prevalence of gun violence in this country in relation to misconstrued ideals of freedom and an erasure of culture.
